Product Description Comics hottest writer Geoff Johns (GREEN LANTERN: SINESTRO CORPS WAR, THE FLASH, ACTION COMICS, JSA) and superstar artist Doug Mahnke (JLA, BATMAN, SUPERMAN) raise the dead in this must-read tie-in to the most anticipated comics event of the year, BLACKEST NIGHT. This hardcover collection starring Hal Jordan expands on the War of the Light as the evil Black Lanterns descend on all of the Corps throughout the universe, explains villain Black Hand's connection to death and the Black Lantern corps and features key plot points that are essential to enjoying the storyline to it's fullest.

The best DC Comic next to Batman and Robin August 23, 2010 T. JACKSON This is a pretty cool book. I highly recommend that you read it with Blackest night and Blackest night Green Lantern Corps. Its like a epic movie series. This was my favorite series last year. Geoff Johns is an awesome writer. He has brought cohesion to a lot of the post crisis DC Universe.
The Blackest Night! August 11, 2010 Todd R. Walsh (Rockwall, TX United States) If you love the Green Lantern Corps, then you will love the addition of more emotional spectrum Corps!
Green Lantern: Blackest Night August 7, 2010 John Harrell very good collection to truly be apreciated the blackest night books should be read in the order they were released as comics, otherwise it can be a little confusing.
A Sci Fi Superhero Zombie Story Writ Large Across the DCU Through 2 Volumes July 31, 2010 As some reviewers have noted, you have to read both Blackest Night and Blackest Night: Green Lantern to get the full story. If you do, then what you get is a high concept action piece with enough character beats to make for a satisfying reading experience. Having said that, it's not as simple as reading one chapter of one volume then popping over and reading one chapter of another. Doing so sacrifices a certain amount of momentum. But neither is it clear cut how many chapters of one volume you should read before you cross over to the next. You need to skim both volumes and choose your path. At one point you may read 4 chapters of Blackest Night before electing to go back to Blackest Night: Green Lantern. You do need to finish that one first though, since the whole story wraps up with Blackest Night. It's a big story folks! Filled with a lot of characters on a very wide stage. Some zombie heroes return from the dead, some stay dead, and at least one dead hero is granted a new lease on life (a DC version of a no prize to the first person that can guess whom I'm talking about). I think, read concurrently, it's a far better story than Infinite Crisis since it seems to have far more lasting repercussions. And those repercussions, at least in some cases, draw from the core concept of the various characters in question. If you can't afford both volumes, buy one and set it aside until you can afford the other, then on a long weekend, open them both up so you can decide the ratio of chapters per volume. I will say start off with chapter one of GL before crisscrossing to BN. I found myself at times reading three chapters of one volume before reading four or five chapters of another. And you will eventually finish Green Lantern first, since it ends on a cliff hanger ending and is concluded in Blackest Night.
Please read BOTH! July 19, 2010 Tim Falcioni This is Geoff Johns Masterwork in my opinion. Please do yourself a favor and read this book. But if you really want to "get it", start at Green Lantern: Rebirth and work your way to it. Then read BOTH Black Night and Black Night: Green Lantern side by side. There are many layers to this story, all great and worth your time. This made up for the disaster that was Final Crisis and even used a nice literary eraser to make up for some of the mis-steps that were in that "event".
